From the President:

July 1, 2022-June 30, 2023

45 years ago, a small group of thoughtful, committed, community members founded Community Living, Inc., and the rest, as they say, is history. It is hard to believe we have been doing the business of providing quality services to children and adults with disabilities for 45 years. Though there have been ups and downs and through it all, we stand as strong today as we ever have.

Our mission, vision and values are crystal clear. People with disabilities are achieving their highest potential through creative and innovative programs and services. Community Living’s Board of Directors has added new members to its existing dedicated membership and is excited to continue their great work.
Since 2020, the pandemic and the staffing crisis have created situations for us that we had no blueprint for. We had no frame of reference for so many situations we have encountered and have endured over the past three years. With heart-felt compassion, creative leadership, and amazing integrity, we have come through, better than we were before.

The number of people served continues to grow each month. We continue to research and implement new and innovative ideas and have exciting plans for expansion in the future. 2024 will be a year to think strategically and to put a new two-to-three-year strategic plan in place. We have some exciting changes on the horizon. We have recently announced the opening of our new Young Adult Center in St. Charles. The program focuses on young adults ages 18-25 who are straight out of high school who still need to figure out their path. This is an inventive and highly innovative approach to helping those young adults forge a path for themselves. This is a much-needed program, and we are so excited to see it grow in 2024.

On a personal note, I was so incredibly honored to take over as President & CEO in January of 2023. I started working for Community Living in 1984 in a direct support coordinator role. My Community Living journey has been full of challenges and successes and every one of them has helped shape who I am today. I cannot wait to see what the future holds for Community Living.

Please join us as we plan and create our path forward for the next 45 years. Together we will make a difference in the lives of children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
