The new Young Adult Center offers specialized programming designed to meet the needs and interests of young adults who desire more time to decide upon a future path of pre-employment, competitive employment, supported employment, or traditional day habilitation. The program, curriculum, and structure are primarily geared towards those who are leaning towards employment as their chosen future path and need more time to mature and develop additional skills before making the transition into employment or a pre-employment program. It is designed for young adults who can work independently in a large group-based setting with minimal staff support or interventions.
The program follows a curriculum designed to meet the unique needs of young adults with comprehensive content centered on individual growth, personal choice, skill development, socialization, navigating young adulthood, community involvement, and life transitions. Participants will learn and practice key skills related to self-determination, social and community relations, and daily living.
The Young Adult Center is part of Community Living’s Support Services for Adults program.
