The Respite Care Home is a home-like, fully accessible facility located in St. Charles, Missouri. The program is available to all ages and operates 24 hours per day, 7 days a week.
Children and adults with disabilities may stay for a few hours, a few days, a week, or more.
Reservations are taken on a first-come, first-served basis. The facility offers four semi-private bedrooms with two beds per room. Home-cooked, family-style meals are provided. Dietary needs are accommodated.
The program is not highly-structured; however, there is a focus to make sure the persons served are having a good time and enjoying their stay. On-site activities include viewing sporting events, arts and crafts, gardening, games, movies, socialization, and developing friendships.

Admission Criteria
- Referral from a DMH or DDRB Case Manager
- Active DMH ID
- Diagnosis of a developmental or intellectual disability
- Able to benefit from participation in the program
- Free from ongoing severe maladaptive behaviors that are dangerous to self or others and/or infringe upon the rights of self or others and cannot be supported in a group setting
- Free from recent or ongoing threats or attempts at suicide that cannot be safely supported
- Able to participate in an environment with non-medical personnel
- Priority goes to St. Charles County Residents and those with funding from other counties will be assessed on a case-by-case basis
All referrals will be evaluated by program leadership to ensure the individual can be safely and appropriately supported.
