Dear Advocate,
The clock is ticking. On April 7, 2026, St. Charles County voters will decide on Proposition RT — a ballot measure that would cap local property tax revenue and could significantly reduce funding for services supporting adults with developmental disabilities.
The stakes are real. If Prop RT passes, funding cuts could eliminate or severely reduce the employment training, job placement, workplace support, and community-based employment programs that the people we serve depend on. For the adults at BCI and Community Living, Inc., these aren’t optional extras — they are the difference between meaningful work and unemployment, between independence and isolation, between dignity and dependence.
We need you to act now:
- Get informed. Understand exactly what Prop RT does and what it would cost our community’s workforce.
- Spread the word. Talk to your networks, families, volunteers, and employer partners. Make sure they know what’s at stake before April 7th.
- Have the conversation. Speak factually and urgently with the people you serve and represent.
- Vote — and make sure others do too. Make your plan today. Early and absentee options are available.
Every day between now and April 7th is an opportunity to reach someone who doesn’t yet understand the consequences of this measure. Don’t wait.
This is about making sure voters have the information they need before it’s too late to protect the employment opportunities and economic independence that adults with developmental disabilities have earned and deserve.
April 7th is coming fast. Be ready.
With appreciation and urgency,
Sheri Wiltse, Chief Executive Officer
