Join us in welcoming Cathi Bornhop in her new role of Director of Respite Services. In 2023, we reorganized the structure of some of our programs and combined our three respite services under one umbrella, that Cathi will oversee. When the Director of Respite Services position came about, Cathi was up for the new opportunity. “I was ready to make a change and broaden my horizon,” said Cathi.

Cathi’s background and connection with the community has prepared her to step into this role. Over the past 10 years she gained a wide range of experience at another nonprofit in St. Charles County, where she supported families that have children / young adults with developmental disabilities and /or severe emotional disabilities. Along with her work experience, Cathi has a National Certification for Family Peer Specialists™ (CFPS) and state certification (FSP). She is a Family Support Provider instructor for the Missouri Credentialing Board and also a Member of the State Advisory Council for the Division of Behavioral Health.

“ Linking families to services to help enrich
their lives has been a passion of mine for many years.”

Cathi oversees Community Living’s Respite Center, Respite Care Home, and In-Home Respite programs, each tailored to meet the needs of different people. The Respite Center is a weekend-only program serving children with significant behavioral challenges. The Respite Care Home is a home-like, fully accessible facility open 24/7 to children and adults who stay for a few hours, days, or even a week or more. The In-Home Respite program is a unique program that uses independent contractors to provide respite in an individual’s own home. Community Living helps connect families and providers and handles payment reimbursement.

When she isn’t working, Cathi spends time with her family. She and her husband have been married for over 30 years and are adoptive parents of 3
beautiful young adults. “We have an amazing grand-daughter that we love to spend time with. We have a miniature schnauzer, Zelda. We are adopting our 2nd schnauzer in March.”

Cathi also enjoys spending time outdoors and supporting local gems. She said, “I love camping in Missouri state parks, visiting local wineries and
breweries/distilleries, finding those small Mom & Pop diners, and I enjoy a good campfire! If I find the time, I may even get my fishing gear out and toss a line.”

Cathi is most looking forward to meeting new people and expanding support for families in our county and state. She said, “I love the people that work for Community Living and the clients that we support.”
