Respite Care Home Direct Support Professional

Respite Care Home direct support professionals will provide support to persons served with developmental disabilities that require protective oversight, behavioral support or assistance with the activities of daily living. This position includes becoming familiar with persons served program file and performing activities outlined on the program plan to achieve the goals and expectations identified by the parents/program coordinator. Direct Support professionals will incorporate assistance of persons served as often as possible in order to teach life skills related to cooking such as allowing persons served to prepare, serve and clean up snacks as part of daily routine. Direct support professionals are also responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms as well as any other recreational rooms that may be used and will also assist persons served with activities of daily living such as feeding, toileting, personal hygiene, changing clothes and participation in community activities. All other duties as assigned.

Full-time, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. rotating shifts including weekends | Part-time, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. rotating shifts including weekends

Pay Rate: Starting at $18-21 per hour

Position Requirements:
• 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED.
• Good communication and organizational skills.
• Possess good listening and comprehension skills.
• Must be able to write and document in a clear, concise professional manner.
• Must possess computer skills that include the ability to navigate, use e-mail and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work as a team member.

Must meet prerequisites for employment, which includes:
o Criminal Background Check
o Division of Aging Employee Disqualification List Check
o Driver’s license, proof of insurance and an acceptable driving record must be maintained. Must be able to take and pass a defensive driving course
