Assistant Manager of the Respite Care Home

Position Summary:

The Assistant Manager of the Respite Care Home is responsible for assisting with the hiring, training, growth, and development of the Direct Support Professional staff. This position is also responsible for monitoring and assuring the provision of quality supports and services as well as the programmatic coordination of activities and programs assigned.

Schedule:

Full-Time, Tuesday-Saturday

Pay Rate:

$22.27/Hour

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Works as “Direct Support Professional” when needed. Will perform all staff duties.
  • Ensures the safety and welfare of all persons served.
  • Assists with the participation in community activities and modifies activities as needed.
  • Assists with implementing individual and group activities.
  • Responsible for training new hires on van responsibilities such as maintenance and mileage.
  • Responsible for assisting with staff scheduling and trainings.
  • Oversees meal menus and shopping.
  • Assists with Epicor, Therap, IPS, and technical support as needed.
  • Cross-trains with Manager of the Respite Care Home.
  • Shares on-call duties.
  • Completes and maintains all required trainings.
  • Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.

Management/Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for directing and supervising the daily activities of the support staff and programs at the Respite Care Home.

Qualifications:

Education, Experience, Skills:

  • 18 years of age or older.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 6 months of relevant experience.
  • Possess sound oral and written communication skills as well as decision making skills.
  • Possess good listening and comprehension skills
  • Must be able to write and document in a clear, concise, and professional manner.
  • Possess the ability to use Microsoft Office applications including, but not limited to Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to work as a team member.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Driver’s License

Physical Demands/Working Conditions:

  • Moderate Work – Exerts up to 50lbs of force occasionally and 20lbs frequently. Standing, sitting, reaching, typing, and walking are common.
  • Drive large van to and from events, programs, etc. Must assist persons served entering and exiting the van and safely lock down wheelchairs on vans.
  • Physically assist participants as needed.
  • Lift persons served who cannot bear weight.
  • Push and maneuver wheelchairs.
