The Director of Nursing Services is responsible for a high quality of healthcare standards for persons served in Community Living programs. The Director of Nursing Services will insure that Department of Mental Health and CARF standards related to health/medical issues are met. This position is primarily responsible for providing services for the agency residential program, as well as oversight of the nursing services provided at the Respite Care Home and supervises all Community RN’s. They will also act as a consultant for all other Community Living programs.
The Director of Nursing Services is responsible for maintaining current medical individual records (IR) forms, serves on the Safety Committee, reporting cumulative medication error data to the Community Living Safety Committee and providing thorough training, oversight and input to medical direct support professionals. Other responsibilities and duties include documenting medical care and treatment per the current Nurse Practice Act, writing assessments and summaries for assigned persons served, attending resident annual meetings and doctor appointments as appropriate. Seeing each assigned person served a minimum of once per month.
Serving as liaison with pharmacy as well as consulting health care practitioners, medical offices and hospitals. Reviewing physician orders provided by the pharmacy on a quarterly basis for assigned persons served and obtain physician’s signature. Reviewing and revise medication administration records (MARs) monthly, participating in the on-call rotation for nursing and be responsible for infection control, blood borne pathogens training standards and compliance along with all medication administration details: policy, implementation, training, storage, documentation, etc. Anticipating, analyzing, and assessing the health needs of persons served. Effectively handle difficult or sensitive issues by utilizing tact and diplomacy. Assume other duties as assigned.
This is a full time position, must be willing to work a flexible schedule and requires some travel to agency sites within St. Charles County.
Pay rate: Commensurate with experience.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- RN supervision experience preferred.
- Three years previous experience in the administration of services to individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Possess excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Possess good listening and comprehension skills along with strong leadership and decision making skills.
- Must be able to write and document in a clear, concise professional manner.
- Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.
- Possess excellent computer skills.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:
- RN License in the State of Missouri
