Tom Chac has been a volunteer with Community Living since 2010. His band, “Stir Crazy,” was the live entertainment at Community Living’s 9th Annual Legacy Ball, and his daughter, Kristen, is a participant in the Employment Services program. In his own words…
Why do you volunteer with Community Living? “I like that it’s a local organization,” Tom said. “Plus, I have an interest with this organization, so I thought it would be nice to help and give my time.
“It is something Kristen and I can do together.”
What are some of your favorite volunteer experiences at the fundraising events? “Each event is a different experience,” Tom said. “But, I enjoy the trivia nights, because you can play along. It’s also where I met Maggie (Guilkey). My daughter and her niece (Heidi, member of Adult Recreation Services) have become friends.”
Do you have any advice to new or potential volunteers with Community Living? “Community Living has a bunch of friendly people,” Tom said. “It is very organized. I am given instructions of expectations for each event I volunteer at and it is very helpful. Everything in the packet answers any questions you may have.”
