Summer is my favorite time of year. There are so many fun activities available and I try to take advantage of as many as possible. I am usually so busy that the summer seems to fly by too quickly.
Community Living, Inc. is no exception; the activities offered are essentially unlimited. Tending a garden, playing softball, participating in summer camp, exploring summer jobs, volunteering at the Cardinals games, barbecues, weekend camping, The Muny, Six Flags, Music on Main…you name it! Community Living’s programs and services ensure that everyone has the ability to participate in summer activities of their choice. This takes the hard work and amazing support of our staff, volunteers, funding sources, and the community.
Other activities this summer included a series of Focus Groups available to all of our stakeholders. The facilitators, Bill and Vicki Welsch of Welsch Consulting, are in the process of compiling the ideas, questions, comments, and dreams gathered from the participants to be used as we develop our strategic plan for the next three to five years.
As we begin thinking of the strategic direction for Community Living, my hope is that we keep the spirit of summer fun and adventure in our planning sessions. It is essential that we begin visioning with creativity, innovation and daring so as to facilitate a world of unlimited opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
